A Bad Father has some very good wisdom to share with…
An honest, courageous look inside one family’s struggle to raise Godly children. David Kennedy shares his heart and heartache with readers in a straight-forward, head-held-high manner, neither absolving himself from blame nor crumbling beneath the hindsight. While some of the content is shocking and disturbing, Kennedy does not shy away from presenting the unglamorous truth and his insight into how things went wrong. Life is messy and not everything gets tied up with a big pink bow but there is redemption in this story. Don’t skip the last chapter; A Bad Father has some very good wisdom to share with every parent.

Enjoyable, inspirational, and educational. Beneficial for any father to read.
A great descriptive tale of a father trying to overcome several obstacles while raising three young boys. Any father who reads this will appreciate the struggles the author faces while being thankful that their struggles may pale in difficulty by most comparisons. The author does a great job of referencing scripture that I had heard before while giving it real world comparisons. A great read, highly recommended for any father who is dealing with any difficulties in raising their children (and aren’t we all?). As a father of three girls, I found some great tips, but the most notable was the practice of erring towards unconditional love rather than strict discipline. Easy read that was well worth the time invested.

I finished your book yesterday and was in tears by the end. Not only for the pain you & Susan have suffered, but for the amazing way you have kept God at the center of your life. I actually typed all of my favorite sections so that I can read over & over as reminders. I absolutely loved your ending with “your shame is finished, your failures are finished, your shortcomings are finished” because you are a beloved son – so beautiful!! I am in awe of your knowledge of scripture and how you can relate passages in laymen’s terms that resonated with me on a deep level. I found myself nodding in agreement and grateful for your advice, especially in continuing to pray for my son to return to faith. It probably won’t happen in my lifetime, but I will have “perseverance and tenacity” in my prayers and never give up.
I wrote a review (for Amazon) but it was difficult to convey how much the story of your life impacted me. You did a fabulous job with the writing & layout but most importantly, your honest soul searching will touch everyone who reads the book.
THANK YOU for continuing that 5 year journey and creating a finished book to share with the world. I am grateful that God inspired and pushed you to finish. I know that you enjoy the work you do, but you have huge unused potential in sharing your knowledge of scripture. I wish there was a forum where you could speak to groups – maybe that is already in the works. I could listen to you ANY day.
I am grateful that Garth, Ben & Paul are all on a good path as of today and that your relationships are only going to get better with time and prayer – you are living proof of the power of prayer.

“A Bad Father, ” is a compelling read
David Kennedy’s, “A Bad Father,” is a compelling read. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. As a result, once I started reading it, I completed it in a single setting.
He tells his story as a failed father in a humble and transparent way, but he does it in such a way that it is encouraging to others who may find themselves in similar situations. His story shows how God can use any and all situations for His glory and our benefit. His gems of wisdom woven throughout the book are helpful and based upon his desire to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ wholeheartedly.
It is a refreshing story which displays great hope in what God can do in spite of our brokenness!

This book was written from a level of vulnerability and authenticity that was just refreshing. I read it from cover-to-cover in one sitting. It gave me strength, hope, faith, appreciation, and acceptance in parenting and relationships. Unbelievably well-written and I highly recommend for any parent to give this one a read. LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

Vulnerable and honest book
Some books tell you what to do because the writer has it all figured out but other books tell you what happened and what they’ve figured out along the way -A Bad Father is this second type of book and it is so much better for it. Parents who are struggling will see themselves as David Kennedy bravely shares his experience. The book is very honest and very practical.
Five Stars
Well written. Helpful introspection for positive change.
